When Fred is left in charge of his friend's tobacco shop, he disobeys instructions and smokes some magic tobacco, which leads to bizarre adventures. The novel, illustrated by Reginald Birch, was first published in 1921 and was named as a Newbery Honor Book for 1922.[1]
